Who
we are
We are a small community of neighbors who share a deep love for hiking and a special affection for the Foothills Trail. We noticed a common challenge for thru-hikers and section hikers alike: there simply aren’t many convenient, affordable, one-night accommodations near the Table Rock trailhead that truly cater to hikers’ needs. By opening our homes hostel-style and offering shuttle support, we’re filling that gap with a welcoming, trail-friendly place to rest, recharge, and get back on the trail with confidence.
Our Services
Gear Rentals
Need the gear without buying the gear? We’ve got you covered. Cherokee Hills Trail Outfitters offers quality backpacking gear for Foothills Trail hikers, from tents, packs and sleeping systems to bear canisters, cookware and water filtration. Whether you’re flying in and traveling light, trying backpacking before investing in a full setup, or just missing one crucial piece of kit, you can rent what you need and leave the gear closet at home.
Courtesy Trail Transportation
Getting to and from the trail is often the trickiest part of planning a Foothills Trail hike. We’re happy to help.
Courtesy transportation to and from Foothills Trail access points is available to our overnight guests as part of their stay. Whether you’re beginning at Oconee State Park, finishing at Table Rock, or tackling a section somewhere in between, let us know your hiking plans when you reserve your room and we’ll help work out the trail logistics.
Flying in from out of town? Contact us for help arranging transportation logistics from GSP or Asheville.
Accommodations
Enjoy a hot shower and soft bed the night before or after your through hike or section hike. We currently have two homes in our neighborhood that offer one-night pre-hike and post-hike stays. Privacy options vary. See below to find out more.
Accommodations
-
Hiker's Haven $130
One-night accommodation plus courtesy shuttle* for your pre-hike and/or post-hike stay. This cozy room above a detached garage includes a queen-sized bed, full bath, mini-fridge, coffee maker, and microwave. Pet friendly and comfortable for one or two guests. The bathroom is separated from the sleeping area by a room divider rather than a traditional door, so this room is best shared with someone you already know pretty well or intend to get to know well on a thru-hike. Because room has private entrance, arriving late at night is fine. *Please contact us for pricing if you do not need a shuttle or if arriving by plane.

-
Yamastay $155
One-night accommodation plus courtesy shuttle* for your pre-hike and/or post-hike stay. This private room and bathroom suite is located on the lower level of our home and includes a queen-sized bed, full bath, and access to the kitchen on the main level. You must love dogs, but please don’t bring one of your own. The two resident Aussies take their hosting duties very seriously and will almost certainly appoint themselves your new best friends. One hot meal, either dinner or breakfast, is included with your stay. *Please contact us for pricing if you do not need a shuttle or if arriving by plane.

Trail Support
When the trail has other plans
Weather turns, knees complain, itineraries change, and gear that behaved perfectly at home decides to fall apart somewhere around mile 40.
If you’re staying with us and your hike doesn’t go according to plan, give us a call. We’ll do our best to help you work through the logistics, whether that means helping arrange an unexpected exit from the trail, adjusting your pickup plans, or figuring out how to get you safely where you need to go.
We can also help our overnight guests with food-cache logistics and other practical details that make a Foothills Trail hike a little easier to pull off.
We can’t promise that every trail problem has an easy solution, but if you run into trouble, call us. If we can help, we will.
Gear failure?
We may be able to help with that, too. Through Cherokee Hills Trail Outfitters, we keep a growing inventory of backpacking gear available for rent. If a tent pole snaps, a sleeping pad gives up, a filter fails, or another essential piece of gear calls it quits mid-hike, contact us. If your location is reasonably accessible and we have a suitable replacement available, we’ll do our best to get you back on trail with working gear.
